even though my eyes are hazy and my thoughts they might be narrow
where you been don't bother me or bring me down with sorrow
i don't even mind who you'll be waking with tomorrow
mama you're just on my mind
it's completely your choice how you're going to take it. you can agree with what's said on the surface (no big deal, just saying, you're on my mind) or you can know the truth beneath the surface and hear it as that. another one is "most of the time." if you take out the word "most of the time" (you don't really have a song) you have a list of self assurances.
most of the time
my head is on straight
most of the time
i'm strong enough not to hate
i don't build up illusion til it makes me sick
i ain't afraid of confusion no matter how thick
i can smile in the face of mankind
don't even remember what her lips felt like on mine
most of the time
but he keeps saying most of the time. obviously the rest of the time isn't addressed but that's just it, you know because he's set up all the contrasts. you can be proud or you can give in, and there's no right answer. makes me think of new built to spill "we've all seen enough now it's time to decide, the meekness of love or the power of pride"
and also bob just rambling beautiful ramblings in Visions of Johanna but concluding every verse with something about those visions of johanna. oh yeah and it's the same thing with I Want You. blah blah blah blah i am distracting you with my fancy words and this long train of thought but the point is i want you. i dunno. i can't get further into the subject of love or bob dylan cause these are two pretty hefty subjects and i'm falling asleep
