Soon The Rock Will Roll Over

it's hard after overplaying the shit out of the clash to put it all back in perspective rewind my mind and make them new again but i'm doing my best. it's a little sad and ironic because the magic of the clash when i first heard them was how fresh they sounded. you know... like hearing rock n roll for the first time. someone said that. everyone said that. i discovered them just in time actually... after tiring of the same music i had always listened to i found myself in a slump. and just like punk rock did and should they brought me back to life. it was the energy that pulled me in but the depth and the heart of the music and the band behind it that got to me. they jumpstarted a lot for me. everything. but now i hardly listen to them. i've played them out to the point of sounding as tired as the music i had previously been bored of. the irony of this is difficult to face, but never will i ever forget how they made me feel. and at the same time i don't think i will ever hold another band at this level. doesn't mean they're the best. more like a first love. i've taken them and put them on a cloud in my own personal heaven. i like to take them down once in a while and try to feel how it felt. i remember it was the end of high school and i was inching towards freedom and this band was empowering as anything. i also didn't know why everyone else wasn't listening to the clash; i felt like i had discovered the world's best kept secret (funny because they are obviously no secret) like secret juice that only i could drink, fuel for happiness and greatness and power and total awareness of all that matters in the world. Sandinista was always eerie to me in a way and now it's eerier than ever, Charlie Don't Surf just boggles my mind until i have no sense of place and time. makes me feel a little lost. i think i felt a little lost during that period too, everything was about to happen and i had no idea what to expect. it was a protective bubble too. i remember being on a plane to florida (i've always been scared of taking off) and i remember jamming my earbuds in and blasting The Magnificent Seven and then i was invincible
