Nobody Baby But You And Me

There's quite a bit to say... first of all I had no choice about the name of this post because this song has been running through my head since I saw Blue Valentine yesterday (You and Me by Penny and the Quarters). I can't explain how I felt when I first heard it in the movie and then of course it goes on to be THE song of the movie but then of course it's a really simple little song by a really obscure sixties soul group.. but the same way its simplicity is jam-packed with the heaviest baggage of feelings in the movie it already has started to weigh more and more for me as I've been singing it to myself for 24 hours and playing it on youtube when I can. It's funny how little stuff like this starts... (I don't just mean obscure songs that get a lot of play after being featured in indie kinda movies, but that too) I mean how songs come to you and of course I know how much music I don't know.... I've been kind of into slapping random percents on everything lately, okay, I'm sure I don't know about 99.9999999% of the music that exists in the world (and 99.99999999999999999999999999999% of things in general that I want to know but I live for music that's my focus here so according to my percentages it's only a little less overwhelming) But yeah anyway obviously there are entire genres that I haven't even touched or hardly touched. Like soul. And I always say that kind of thing but I feel much more strongly about that now than usual, since, in the past few months, I've begun my obsession with hip-hop/only listened to hip-hip/felt the way about it that I do about other music really for the first time. Getting into hip-hop, and hearing this song... it's just amazing when I realize how I've never really heard thoughts/feelings exactly like this through music before. It's amazing how for such a long period of time (yes, about three months is a very long period of time, musically, for me, when you think of what happens in that time, at least if things are going how they should) I only wanted to listen to hip-hop, that's just what I felt. And that's still happening for the most part... I've been listening to other new things/other old things I've been craving but I keep going back. It's amazing how I heard that song and just realized, Wow, why haven't I been listening to soul? It's just, feeling a whole new feeling. I guess that's what every song is like but the point is that by expanding on that I've added a new dimension of meaning and feeling to my life. And understanding, and appreciation. And fun and lust and excitement, and an outlet, and a mirrored projection of everything in myself that is not tangible, everything in the WORLD that is not tangible. As I wrote that, I was listening to the song, and I was just about to say that that's exactly why I could live without everything else, why I'd always chose being blind over being deaf, why I live, really, what gets me through anything, and this is obviously a love song but for the time being it just became my love song to music

"You and Me(2x) No body baby but you and me, You and Me(2x) Nobody baby but you and me

If the stars don't shine if the moon wont rise, If I've ever seen a city summon again.
You wont hear me cry, this I testify. Please believe me boy you know I wont lie.
As long as there is...

You and Me(2x) No body baby but you and me, You and Me(2x) Nobody baby but you and me

If you love a soul more then fame and gold. And that soul feels the same about you. Its a natural fact, there is not turning back. And here is some advise to you.... You got to say is...

You and me(2x ) No body baby but you and me, You and Me(2x) No body baby but you and me

Sweet love is real, you don't have to show it. Breathing is true, to everyone who knows cause there be no one but,

You and Me(2x) No body baby but you and me You and Me(2x) Nobody baby but you and me"

I live for the funk I'll die for the funk, over and out
